What does this mean for At-Home Charging through Solar Power

By pairing a solar panel with at-home charging for EVs, you can alleviate electricity costs as many concerns about EVs for new and future EV buyers are the increase in their electricity bills. However, you can reduce electricity costs by powering at-home charging stations with solar panels by a significant amount.

Solar panels and at-home charging stations for EVs are indefinite adjuncts to each other. They help EV owners to become even more clean-energy forward and help EV owners to save more money along the way.

The Solar panel industry and EV industry. The similarity? They are both clean-powered industries that sought to be a good step forward for humanity as climate change is affecting our environment. While we know about Tesla and their solar panels, Tesla is working with Hanwha to bring solar-powered at home charging stations for their EVs. However, Tesla is not the only one thinking of this idea. There are a few other companies working on the same solar panel and EV home charging goals.

Other companies such as SunPower and Wallbox are working together to bring solar panels to at home charging stations. Companies such as REenergizeCo also have the same ideas as Tesla that they see the opportunity within at-home charging for EVs and solar panels. When combining solar panels and at-home charging stations for EVs, consumers have it easier to save money and time. These companies are working together to create a better ecosystem for consumers who own solar panels and at-home charging stations for customers who own EVs.

Started in 1985, SunPower is one of the leading brands of solar panels. They are considered a leader in the solar panel industry for social responsibility and solar sustainability. Then there is Wallbox, a fairly new company starting in 2015. Though it is a fairly new company, Wallbox like SunPower, is striving to free the world from the reliance on fossil fuel.

Both companies working together are like two puzzle pieces coming together. SunPower and Wallbox recognize that the EV industry will continue to grow. Accounting for almost 32% of all car sales in 2020, EVs are a stronghold within the car industry. Alongside that, 40% of EV owners are also solar panel owners. With this overlap between EV owners and solar panel owners, it was only natural for SunPower and Wallbox to team up.

CEO Enric Asuncion said, “Making charging at home easier and less expensive has always been core to Wallbox's vision. Our alliance with SunPower will further enable us to achieve this goal and support rising EV adoption.” Ansuncion believes that working together with SunPower, will benefit not only their consumers but also the planet to be more sustainable and green forward.
