The Polestar 2 has made its North American debut
The new Polestar 2, a division of Volvo, has arrived
Polestar, the performance division of recently-renaissanced Volvo, showed the Polestar 2 for the first time in North America. The entirely electric five-door fastback made its U.S. public debut in San Francisco just a few days ago and is now touring parts of the United States. The “tour” that Polestar has lined up for the car mirrors where the car will be sold. San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego are all on the itinerary.
“Anticipation for the Polestar 2 is high in North America with the bulk of the initial orders coming from this region,” said Gregor Hembrough, Head of Polestar in the Americas. “This is the first opportunity for the general public to engage with the Polestar 2 in this part of the world, and we expect these modern cities to embrace the first 100% electric car from Polestar.”
The Specs
As a little refresher on what the follow up to the plug-in hybrid performance coupe the Polestar 1 is, here are some specs. The Polestar 2 is fully electric and driven by 2 electric motors, one at the front axel and one at the rear. They make a combined 408 horsepower and 438 lb-ft of torque. While no outlet has performance tested the Polestar 2 yet, but Volvo has a “target” 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds.
The target range for the Polestar is 275 miles and prices should start at around $63,000. If you’re really interested, you can go online to Polestar.com and reserve yourself a car today. Polestar 2 deliveries will begin in Q2 2020, but only in seven specified initial locations. Availability will become more nationwide as time goes on.
