Bentley’s giving itself a stunning present for its 100th birthday, and it’s helping define the brand’s future at the same time. Meet the Bentley EXP 100 GT, an all electric super GT with an estimated 435 miles of range and fully autonomous driving to boot. It’s part of Bentley’s plan to build electrified GT’s just like this in the next 15 years.

Bentley says the car will go from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and will have a top speed of 186 miles an hour – no word on if the car will be able to drive itself at that speed, though.

The EXP 100 GT is a way for Bentley to look back on its fruitful heritage and pull from it to celebrate some of their classic design traits – a long hood, short deck and gorgeous interiors are among them. The materials chosen for this concept are many and perfectly in line with other Bentley’s of the past. Think cotton, leather, wool, crystal and paint made from discarded rice husks.

Bentley is also trying to be more eco-conscious with its concept for 2035. The leather is a  100% organic leather-like textile and the wood inserts on the dash come from a 5,000 year old copper infused riverwood tree.

Pulling from what it thinks will be a major perk of future battery tech, Bentley says the EXP’s battery pack can go from completely flat to an 80% charge in just 15 minutes. The reason batteries can’t go from 0 to 100% has to do with heat – the more energy you pump into a battery the hotter it gets, so all manufacturers slow down the charging process after the battery gets to an 80% charge.

Despite the impressive battery tech and performance, the EXP weighs just 1,900 kilograms or 4188 pounds – that’s more than half a ton less than the current Continental GT

Bentley is also throwing AI into the mix. It will be called Bentley Personal Assistant and will constantly monitor the EXP’s passengers to make sure they are perfectly comfortable at all times. Brentley also says it’ll autonomously handle all the charging of the EXP, though they didn’t specify exactly how.

Overall, the concept is stunning. It updates the Bentley proportions for the future without spoiling them. Here’s to hoping the production version looks a lot like it.
