My experience using the Tesla autopilot

My experience using the Tesla autopilot

You have probably already heard about autonomous driving and its potential to be a reality in the very near future. The capability of letting your car drive you from point A to point B seemed like it was something you’d only see in the movies. But there are a few companies out there that is trying to make this reality happen as soon as possible, and one of those companies is Tesla.

Tesla’s vehicles give you the ability to use the autopilot feature which essentially “assists you with the most burdensome parts of driving.” Tesla’s autopilot is capable of steering, turning, switching lanes, parking and even driving to you when you “summon” it. All this sounds too good to be true, which is what led me to test drive one of Tesla’s cars to experience firsthand this autopilot feature.

My expectations we’re pretty low, expecting the car to do very minor things in assisting you. But the car literally had a mind of its own. I tested the autopilot on the freeway and it successfully managed to stay in the lane and maintained the flow of traffic throughout the duration. Overall, I was impressed with the technology; I don’t think I’m comfortable enough just yet to let the car drive without me having some sort of control over it, but I can definitely see the possibility of autonomous driving being a reality very soon.
